This book details the lives and times of the 204 men who served as Newfoundland Rangers. The Rangers existed from 1935 to 1950 and enforced all aspects of government regulations from criminal laws to game laws to administering social welfare or "the dole". Many of the Rangers were involved in heroic actios and several went on to outstanding professional careers when the force was absorbed by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police after Confederation with Canada. Three members of the Rangers died in the execution of their duties. One of those who died was Danny Corcoran died in St. Anthony hospital after getting lost on the open barrens of the Great Northern Peninsula while on patrol in March, 1936. His saga is recounted in the moving epic Will Anyone Search for Danny? by retired game warden Earl Pilgrim.
