Uncle Mose: The Life of Ted Russell by Elizabeth Miller
Best known as "Uncle Mose," Ted Russell (1904-1977) was also a teacher, a magistrate, a civil servant, and even a politician. This biography by his daughter, set against the backdrop of major events in Newfoundland and Labrador during the twentieth century, is a testament to a man whose dedication, integrity, and sense of humour make him one of our province's most beloved native sons. The Chronicles of Uncle Mose by Ted Russell was an extremely popular feature on The Fishermen's Broadcast on CBC Radio in the 1950's. He also wrote eight plays that were set in the fictitious Newfoundland community of Pigeon Inlet including The Holdin' Ground, The Hangashore, and The Algebra Slippers.
